History

After disastrous fires in 1922 and 1924 destroyed much of Spearman's business district, the Hansford County town rebuilt with brick buildings, a modern water system, and paved brick streets. Crews began laying the concrete base in 1927, letting it settle about three days before setting the brick. The durable streets became a lasting emblem of the town's recovery and modernization in the 1920s.
