History

The Baytown Historical Museum occupies the former Goose Creek Post Office, an International Style building constructed in the mid-1930s and designed by architect Louis A. Simon; it is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark that served as the post office for nearly fifty years. Exhibits cover the region from the Karankawa through Baytown's rise as one of the state's most industrialized cities, and include a WPA fresco mural by artist Philip Parisi.
