History

Evergreen Cemetery near Crosby, once known as the Swedish Cemetery, dates to 1899, when landowner Rudolph C. J. Kenning allowed two families to bury their dead on the property. The community-tended burial ground was declared a Historic Texas Cemetery by the Texas Historical Commission in 2008, with a dedication held that November. The marker was erected in 2007.
