History

The Hockley Cemetery is one of the older burial grounds in northwestern Harris County, serving the railroad community of Hockley, which took its name from Republic of Texas figure George Washington Hockley and was reached by the Houston and Texas Central Railway in 1857. Sources place its founding in the mid-to-late 1800s, and it holds many of the town's early settlers along Betka Road.
