History

The Arnot House was built in 1848 by blacksmith Albert M. Arnot, who had moved to Harrison County by 1845. It is a one-story raised wood-frame Greek Revival dwelling set on a full above-ground brick basement, with a five-bay facade, central-hall plan, and a full-width front porch that blends East Texas and raised New Orleans influences. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and became a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1980.
