History

The Barnes-Choate Cemetery is a small family plot near Nesbitt in Harrison County, located on the former homestead of William Oliver and Alice Gray Owens Barnes. Among its few known interments is Clarissa Jane Sockwell Porter Owens Choate, mother of Alice Gray Owens Barnes and other members of the Owens and Porter families; the plot sits on private land with no public access.
