History
The LBJ Museum of San Marcos commemorates Lyndon B. Johnson's formative years as a college student and schoolteacher, connecting them to the Great Society legislation he later passed as the 36th president. Johnson attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College, now Texas State University, in San Marcos from 1927 to 1930, and this is the only Texas museum dedicated to his university years. Growing out of a mayor's tourism committee in the late 1990s, the museum opened its doors on December 6, 2006.
