History
The Charles S. Cock House in San Marcos was built in 1867 of pine, elm, cedar and native limestone, and it is the only stone Greek Revival residence remaining in the city. Charles S. Cock, a pioneer and civic leader who served as the town's second mayor from 1881 to 1883, raised the home on the banks of the San Marcos River. It was the first San Marcos property placed on the National Register of Historic Places and now serves as a museum.
