History

Derden Cemetery, near Blum in Hill County, was established in 1881 and named for William Derden, a local farmer who donated the land. It lies within the Derden community, which began forming in the mid-1850s when the Ince brothers arrived and built a cotton gin. The cemetery serves as the resting place of early settlers and their families and carries a Historic Texas Cemetery designation.
