History

Old Lebanon Cemetery, in a rural area of Hill County near Aquilla, grew up around a church built about 1856-1857 as a Methodist Episcopal Church, South. A church stood on the site by 1859, when W. E. Anderson sold the land to James M. Hix. The cemetery holds more than 300 burials, including at least eight Confederate veterans, and is one of the oldest in the county.
