History
Collin Aldrich (1801-1842), born in Mendon, Massachusetts, fought at the Battle of San Jacinto and was appointed the first chief justice of Houston County by Sam Houston in 1837, serving until 1841. His 1936 Texas Centennial marker stands east of Farm to Market Road 2967 in the Austonio area of Houston County.
