History

Antioch Cemetery in eastern Houston County has long been associated with the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church, organized in 1859. Its first marked grave, that of Mary J. Cramer, dates to 1860, and the grounds also hold unmarked burials of transient sawmill workers from the years when the 4-C Mill operated at nearby Ratcliff. Descendants of the church's members from the Ratcliff, Hagerville, Kennard, and Stubblefield communities have continued to use the cemetery.
