History

The Texana Museum and Library in Edna preserves the heritage of Jackson County, one of the original counties formed after Texas independence in 1836. Its library archives document the surrounding area, including the vanished river port of Texana, which lost the county seat to Edna in 1883 after Texana's businessmen declined to pay a bonus to route the railroad through their town. The museum is generally open Thursday through Saturday.
