The building features a primary shallow pedimented entry portico supported by Doric columns with secondary pedimented entries framed by full height flat pilasters, a sheet metal entablature and a central octagonal domed clocktower.

The Jeff Davis County Courthouse in Fort Davis was designed by the Dallas firm L.L. Thurman & Co. and built between 1910 and 1911 by the Falls City Construction Co. of Louisville, Kentucky, replacing an earlier adobe courthouse that had also served Presidio County. The two-story Classical Revival building has alternating layers of concrete and rusticated pink native stone, recessed Doric porticoes on two sides, and a Beaux-Arts octagonal clock tower housing a Seth Thomas clock. Sitting at about 5,050 feet, it is the highest courthouse in Texas. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002, designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 2000, and a State Antiquities Landmark in 2003.
