History

The Chambers House Museum is a Calder Avenue home in Beaumont built around 1906 by lumberman Hardee Turner and sold to the Chambers family in 1914. Mr. Chambers remodeled it in 1924, adding tall white columns and extending the roofline to create a full second-story porch. Sisters Ruth and Edith Chambers lived modestly and preserved the house with its original furnishings, leaving it to a foundation and the Beaumont Heritage Society as a museum illustrating upper-middle-class life from the 1920s through the 1940s.
