History

The J. M. and Emily Daniel House is a two-and-a-half-story High Victorian Italianate villa in Paris built in the years after the Civil War. The land was sold in 1846 to Captain J. M. Daniel and his wife Emily by Emily's father, George Wright, the founder of Paris. Captain Daniel served as an executive with the Memphis, El Paso and Pacific Railroad and organized the Lamar Artillery during the Civil War. The house is one of the properties documented in the National Register's Historic Resources of Paris multiple-property listing.
