History

Hughes' Springs is one of the sulphur springs near Lampasas named for Moses Hughes, the area's first settler in 1853, whose wife Hannah is said to have regained her health by drinking the mineral waters. News of her recovery drew other health-seekers who camped along Sulphur Creek; the marker dates to 1936.
