History

Sacred Heart Cemetery is one of the Catholic burial grounds serving Sacred Heart parish at Hallettsville, the seat of Lavaca County. The parish maintains a cluster of Sacred Heart cemeteries, numbered #1 and #2 alongside the separate Old Sacred Heart Cemetery in town, whose oldest marker dates to 1884. Together they reflect the deep Catholic heritage brought to the county by its German and Czech immigrant families.
