The Leon County Courthouse in Centerville was built in 1886 on the footprint of the 1856 courthouse, reusing much of the earlier exterior brick and encasing two surviving safes, after the previous building burned in November 1885. Architect George Edwin Dickey of Houston is generally credited with the small two-story, center-hall Italianate design, which recalls pre-Civil War courthouse types. It was rededicated on July 1, 2007, following a full restoration.
