History

Texas Hall is a monumental four-story limestone building on the former Trinity University campus in Tehuacana, founded by Cumberland Presbyterians in 1869. It was first designed in the Gothic Revival style by Joseph Schuster and completed in 1871, then redesigned in the Second Empire style by architect James E. Flanders between 1886 and 1892. Trinity University moved to Waxahachie in 1902 and Westminster College occupied the building until 1942; individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the endangered hall suffered a roof collapse in 2021 and is being acquired for preservation by Preservation Texas.
