History
The Lynn County Courthouse on the public square in Tahoka was built in 1916 after voters approved a bond in 1915 to replace an earlier two-story frame courthouse. Designed in the Classical Revival style by architect W. M. Rice and built by A. Z. Rodgers, the reinforced-concrete building with red-brick and cast-stone veneer has symmetrical facades and porticos with Ionic columns. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 as an outstanding example of the public architecture that arose on the South Plains during the region's formative years, and later underwent a state-funded restoration.
