History
The Hotel Blessing opened in 1907 in the town of Blessing, built by community founder Jonathan Edwards Pierce and designed by Victoria architect Jules Leffland. It is an unusual expression of the Mission Revival style rendered entirely in wood rather than stucco or adobe. It was the first property in Matagorda County listed on the National Register of Historic Places (1979) and is operated today by the Blessing Historical Society.
