The Heart of Texas Historical Museum in Brady occupies the Old McCulloch County Jail, a three-story Richardson Romanesque red-brick building completed in 1910. The nonprofit museum acquired the jail in 1974, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Displays include county artifacts, a welded-shut hangman's trapdoor (never used for an execution), and, on the grounds, a guard shack from a WWII POW camp and the control tower from Curtis Field.
