History

Golinda Cemetery serves the farming community of Golinda on the McLennan-Falls county line, a settlement named for Ignacio Galindo, a priest granted eleven leagues of land nearby in 1833. Early settlers favored the site's high ground over the malaria-prone Brazos bottomlands, and by the mid-1800s Golinda had a store, saloon, church, and school along the Marlin-to-Waco stage road. The cemetery has served residents of Golinda and surrounding communities including Mooresville, Robinson, Rosenthal, and Satin.
