History

Quihi Community Cemetery was established in 1915 to serve Quihi, a Medina County settlement laid out on Quihi Lake in 1845 by empresario Henri Castro and named for a local white-necked hawk. Burials predating 1915 were moved here from earlier plots. The surrounding community was settled largely by German immigrants from Wuerttemberg, Hanover, Alsace, Baden, and East Frisia, a heritage still reflected in the cemetery's surnames.
