History

Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale was once known as the New City Cemetery before it received its present name around 1934, when it was formally organized by the Rockdale City Cemetery Association. The eastern portion is commonly called East Lawn, and the grounds hold several thousand burials serving the Rockdale community.
