History

Norman Valley Cemetery in Precinct 4 traces to the Norman family, of Austrian origin, whose earliest recorded burial is Thomas Norman in 1870; other pioneer families such as the Hertenbergers, Hosches, and Hanks also settled the area. The long-neglected, overgrown grounds have drawn preservation interest aimed at eventually earning a Historic Texas Cemetery designation.
