History
The Mills County Historical Museum in Goldthwaite occupies the Palmer Building, one of the town's first stone structures, built as a single story in 1893 with a second story added in 1906. The museum grew from historical photographs displayed at a local bank during the 1976 Bicentennial, and the museum corporation purchased the building in 1977. Its period room settings, including a post office, drugstore, schoolhouse, and dentist office, and community displays represent towns across Mills County, among them several such as Center City and Regency that no longer exist.
