History
The Lone Star Monument and Historical Flag Park is a 3.5-acre park in Conroe that celebrates Montgomery County as the birthplace of the Lone Star Flag. Thirteen recreated battle and rally flags fly on 35-foot poles, tracing Texas's fight for independence from 1821 to 1839. Its centerpiece is 'The Texian,' a 14-foot bronze by artist Craig Campobella depicting a volunteer soldier of the Texas Revolution, and a bust honors Dr. Charles B. Stewart, the county resident credited with designing the state flag.
