History
The Window on the Plains Museum in Dumas presents the history of Moore County, with extensive displays on farming, ranching, industry, business, and family life on the High Plains. It began in 1976 as the Moore County Historical Museum, dedicated on Bicentennial Day in the ballroom of the landmark Sneed Hotel, and was relocated in 2001 to a modern building on a 10-acre tract in southwest Dumas and renamed. An accompanying Art Center opened alongside it in October 2004, and the complex also houses a research and archives center.
