History

Built in 1895 to a design by architect Diedrich Rulfs, the Old Cotton Exchange at 305 East Commerce Street handled the trade of cotton, the county's leading crop, made viable by Nacogdoches' rail link to Houston. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.
