History
Millard's Crossing Historic Village is a living-history site established in the late 1960s and 1970s by Lera Millard Thomas, the first woman elected to Congress from Texas, who founded it to save endangered 19th-century East Texas buildings and to house her antique collection. The village gathers a cluster of relocated and restored structures, including a schoolhouse, church, and boardinghouse, on land the Millard family had owned since 1830. A Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, it offers visitors a walk among the rustic log cabins and Victorian homes of early East Texas.
