History

Inman Cemetery in southern Newton County was established in 1914 when Laura Inman Hughes, who died shortly after childbirth, was buried on land her Stark grandparents had bequeathed to their Inman heirs. Her brothers and their families were later interred there, and in 1963 T.H. Inman deeded the acre to the Inman Cemetery Association. In 2006 five graves threatened by erosion were reinterred here from the nearby W.H. Stark Cemetery, and the state placed a marker in 2005.
