History

The Port Aransas Museum, opened in 2008 by the Port Aransas Preservation and Historical Association, is housed in a 1910 kit house at 400 North Alister Street. It preserves the island community's history through an archive of tens of thousands of photographs and documents, along with memorabilia from the Farley boat-building enterprise and the local sport-fishing industry. Among its holdings is a Fourth Order Fresnel lens once installed in the nearby Lydia Ann Lighthouse from 1878 to 1952.
