History

Also known as the Pickwick-McAdams Cemetery, this burial ground takes its name from Captain William Carroll McAdams, who settled in Palo Pinto County in 1854. It grew up to serve the nearby Pickwick community, whose original site now lies beneath Possum Kingdom Lake. The earliest marked grave dates to 1889, and in 1940 graves from the Carter Bend Cemetery were relocated here as the lake was being built.
