History

The Odd Fellows Cemetery sits two blocks from the Carthage downtown square, immediately adjacent to the Carthage City Cemetery; the two grounds share no clear boundary and are often treated as one, together holding over 5,000 burials. Established by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows fraternal lodge, it contains graves dating to the mid-19th century and remains in active use. It is distinct from the separate African American Odd Fellows Cemetery on Wisteria Street in Carthage.
