History

The William Keenan and Nancy Elizabeth McCardell House stands about four blocks northwest of the historic commercial district and courthouse square in Livingston, the seat of Polk County. The Victorian house is notable for a hexagonal front room wrapped on three sides by a porch and for turned columns, brackets, balusters and spindles, set in a yard shaded by magnolia, pecan and live oak trees. Documented in a 1990 National Register nomination, it retains a high degree of integrity after restoration and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
