History
The Hearne Railroad Museum occupies a distinctive arrow-shaped depot built in 1901 that served both the Southern Pacific and Missouri Pacific lines for more than 50 years. Hearne, platted in 1870, became known as the 'Crossroads of Texas' because two major rail lines and two highways crossed in the town, and the depot originally included segregated waiting areas. Restored over roughly a decade, the depot reopened as a museum and visitor center in 2011 with railroad memorabilia, antique furnishings, and more than 200 historic Hearne photographs.
