History

West Boone Prairie Cemetery lies north of Franklin in the Boone Prairie community, which was settled in 1872 and by 1885 supported some thirty residents, three churches, a school, and a combined gristmill and cotton gin. As the settlement grew it divided into East and West Boone Prairie, each with its own burial ground. The cemetery holds graves ranging from the 1800s through the modern era, including Civil War and World War veterans.
