History

St. Mary Cemetery is the burial ground of St. Mary Catholic Church in Bremond, a parish founded in 1876 to serve the many Polish immigrants who settled the area in the 1870s to grow cotton. Father Mosiewicz began building the first wooden church in 1878, and the first services were held in 1879. The cemetery reflects Bremond's enduring identity as one of Texas's oldest Polish Catholic communities.
