History

Rowena was laid out in 1898 by developer Paul J. Baron, who first called it Baronsville, and was renamed in 1904 as German and Czech families from Central Texas settled the surrounding Runnels County farmland. This marker recognizes one of the community's oldest surviving native-rock buildings from that early era.
