History
The Rusk County Depot Museum Complex in Henderson gathers more than a dozen restored historic buildings on grounds donated to the community in 1966. Established in 1978 around a 1901 depot given by the Missouri Pacific Railroad, the complex includes the T.J. Walling log cabin (built 1841 and among the best-documented log structures in Texas), an 1880 dogtrot home, a syrup mill, and the only standing outhouse in Texas with a state historical marker. The buildings and collections interpret rural East Texas life in a region once home to the Caddo and Cherokee.
