History

Robinson Cemetery lies about a mile east of Point Blank in San Jacinto County and is tied to the Robinson families who were among the community's founders; Point Blank itself took its name from 'Blanc Point,' coined by French governess Florence Dissiway, who arrived in the 1850s to teach the R.T. and Henry Robinson children. Buried here is George T. Wood, second governor of Texas, who established a plantation in the area as early as 1839 and over whose grave the state erected a monument in 1911.
