History

The Scurry County Museum sits on the campus of Western Texas College in Snyder and was built in 1974 during the college's second construction phase. It grew from five years of research by the Scurry County Historical Society and allied groups, with its association board first meeting in 1970. The museum preserves more than 16,000 artifacts covering the area's Native American history, local railroads, and the famous white buffalo.
