History

Snyder Cemetery, the principal burial ground of Snyder, the Scurry County seat, was established in 1891 and designated a Historic Texas Cemetery in 2001, the same year the Texas Historical Commission placed a marker there. It succeeded the earlier Old Snyder Graveyard, which grew from common usage on state land in the 1880s and was closed to further burials in 1902.
