History
Flint Cemetery serves the southern Smith County community of Flint, which became a town in 1887 with a post office along the Kansas and Gulf Short Line Railroad. Rural burial grounds served the area until 1900, when Samuel Clampitt and Mollie Oglesby conveyed land for a community cemetery. Graves include members of the Flynt family and both Union and Confederate Civil War veterans; the Flint Cemetery Association, formed in 1976, maintains the grounds.
