History

Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church (Nuestra Señora del Refugio) has served the Rio Grande border town of Roma since the mid-19th century, with surviving baptismal records dating to March 1853. Part of the Diocese of Brownsville, the parish still worships at its historic church on Saint Eugene de Mazenod Avenue and is recognized with a Texas historical marker.
