History

The Grapevine Historical Museum, part of the city's Settlement to City museum complex in Ted R. Ware Plaza, is housed in the former Grapevine Ice Company building on West Hudgins Street and operated by the Grapevine Historical Society. The surrounding plaza gathers relocated 19th-century pioneer homes and a schoolhouse that interpret life on the Grape Vine Prairie. Grapevine traces its origins to 1843, when Sam Houston and representatives of the Republic of Texas met with ten Native American nations at Grape Vine Springs to negotiate a treaty.
