History

Union Hill Cemetery is the surviving heart of a community that grew up around a church and cemetery built on land donated by Alexander Tabb, who settled about five miles southeast of Mount Pleasant in 1861. Around 1900 the settlement had a school, church, general store, and wagon-maker, but the school consolidated with Chapel Hill by 1962 and the store was gone by the 1980s. Today the church and cemetery are essentially all that remain of Union Hill.
