History

Manors Hill Cemetery, historically an African American burial ground, lies adjacent to the J.J. Manor Cemetery in eastern Travis County near Webberville, and the two were for a time conflated as a single 'J.J. Manor Hill Cemetery.' The associated land takes its name from Joseph J. Manor (1818-1884), a Tennessee native who settled the Webberville community, acquiring land and operating a cotton gin and general store. A cemetery association was formed in 1982, and the Texas Historical Commission placed a marker at the site in 2001.
